Take advantage of your experience, lead an agile team of experienced technicians and scientists, and actively contribute to international Research project teams to assure long-term profitability of a globally leading and family-owned pharmaceutical company. As Head of Laboratory, you combine a strong pharma industry background with deep scientific expertise in preclinical formulation development and physicochemical characterization. In addition, you are a creative driver of change, with experience in leadership roles within pharmaceutical Research and Development.
We are offering the exciting opportunity to join our team of highly innovative formulation scientists and physicochemical compound profilers as a Head of Laboratory within Drug Discovery Sciences, located in Biberach, Germany, the company’s largest Research & Development site.
Tasks & responsibilities
In your new role, you will lead a team focused on the development and manufacturing of formulations for preclinical studies;
You are working in close collaboration with colleagues in CMC development functions to assure a seamless transfer of clinical development candidates from research to development;
Coordinating contacts to contract research organizations and to relevant academic groups in the field will be part of your profile too;
You assess physicochemical properties (e.g. crystallinity, solubility) of and generate purity and stability data for new chemical entities;
Part of your responsibility will also be the scientific and technological guidance of technicians to ensure high-level education and personal development of the team;
In international research project teams, you represent all CMC related topics, you actively contribute to the characterization and selection of clinical development candidates and you provide CMC specific scientific guidance to the team.
Requirements
PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry or related discipline, alternatively Master’s degree with several years professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry;
Longtime professional experience in leading scientist and technicians within the pharmaceutical industry;
Several years of relevant experience in the area of formulation development and physicochemical characterization of new chemical entities (preferably including oligonucleotides and peptides);
Excellent overview of scientific literature and already established scientific network;
State of the art knowledge in developing pharmaceutical formulations for preclinical studies and analytical technologies (e.g. particle size determination, HPLC-MS);
Teamplayer with strong communication skills;
Excellent communication skills in German and English.
